CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co. Ltd. has won the construction project of a 1,266m long highway bridge across the Yalu River which currently separates China from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The twin-pylon, double-plane cable-stayed bridge reaches 194.6m in height and has a main span of 636m with H-shaped bridge towers. Construction is due to take 19 months.
The engineering firm explains: “The bridge will become an important traffic intersection of the Europe and Asia land route channel and the Asia highway network when completed. It is of great significance in expanding the friendly cooperation between China and the Korean Peninsula and improving their bilateral technical and economic exchanges.”
