The tallest freestanding tower built from Lego has been completed by over 4,000 children in South Korea. Comprised of 50,000 blocks and measuring 31.9m high, the soaring spire has been completed in recognition of Lego’s 80th anniversary. The final brick was placed by the Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark as this is the country of Lego’s origin, with 30,000 visitors to the tower’s site outside the Olympic City Stadium in Seoul.

Over the years Lego has embraced the architecture world, expanding its range to include a number of landmark buildings including Sydney Opera House, Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House, the Burj Khalifa and SOM’s Willis Tower.
