CCTV Tower to open in time for London Olympics

The CCTV Tower in Beijing, designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas will open in time to broadcast the London Olympics. The iconic structure was damaged after a fire three years ago in a neighbouring building caused by illegal fireworks, delayed its opening. While no specific opening date for the tower has been given, staff at CCTV have confirmed that the building will open sometime this year. The cost of the fire was estimated at more than 160m Yuan (€19m).
