MVDRV wins Architect of the Year Award

Dutch practice MVRDV has celebrated success in two awards from German magazine Architektur & Wohnen (A&W) after the firm was selected as Architect of the Year. Landscape architect Anouk Vogel was also selected for the USM-Mentoring Award for Architecture after MVRDV nominated her for her ‘highly inspiring poetic designs such as Cacticity’.

MVRDV was selected as Architect of the Year due to its recognisable concepts and unique designs which struck a chord with the publication’s readers. The firm will accept the award at a ceremony in Hamburg on 11 May 2012. MVRDV was hit with controversy earlier this year after their Cloud concept was compared to the terrorist attacks of 9/11, a moment which they seem to have overcome in being selected for this award.
