London's Royal Docks site handed to Chelsfield

Developer Chelsfield has been selected by the London Development Agency to lead a 50 acre mixed use project in the centre of Newham's 'Arc of Opportunity', an area which has been selected for complete transformation. The site has the potential for almost 500,000 sq m of construction with plans suggesting 228,570 sq m has been reserved for commercial and retail facilities and 126,440 sq m set aside for residential units.

Located at London's Royal Docks, the site - entitled Silvertown Quays - is supported by excellent transport links, including the London Underground, Docklands Light Railway, London City Airport, and the upcoming cable car backed by Mayor Boris Johnson. The project is thought to be worth in the region of ?1.2bn with construction due to commence in two years and completion set for 2018.
