Trump files for bankruptcy

Trump Entertainment has filed for bankruptcy and nine further affiliates have sought protection, news agency Bloomberg has reported.

The associations encompassing Trump's three casino resorts, Trump Plaza Associates, Trump Marina Associates and Trump Taj Mahal Associates are amongst those in danger of slipping into bankruptcy.

Just last year Trump Taj Mahal topped off it's centrepiece tower and announced the opening of a branch of the famous New York restaurant Il Mulino.

An exhibit attached to the bankruptcy petition said the companies had consolidated assets of $2.1 billion and debt of $1.7 billion as of Dec. 31. Donald Trump resigned from the company's board on Friday, disagreeing with the decision to file.
