Short list announced for Broad Museum

A short list of architects to design the new Broad Museum in Beverly Hills, California has been announced, according to the Architects Newspaper. Making the list is Shigeru Ban, Thom Mayne, Rafael Viñoly, and Christian de Portzamparc. Advisors to the competition include Frank Gehry, critic Joseph Giovanni, Joanne Heyler, Curator for the Broad Foundation, and Marcy Goodwin a museum planning consultant. The museum is to house the private collection of Eli Broad, a billionaire philanthropist who most recently bailed out the troubled LA MoCA museum in California, a research and study center, and the Broad Art Foundation’s headquarters. Calls to the Foundation to confirm the storey were not returned.
