Residents get first glimpse of Glenwood Power Plant regeneration project
British architect Will Alsop offered local residents a first glimpse of the Glenwood Power Plant regeneration project. Alsop's much anticipated first project in the U.S. is set to revitalize a currently
undervalued area of waterfront in Yonkers, turning the abandoned
Glenwood Power Station into a vibrant mixed-use development.
At the meeting Alsop presented renderings and design concepts based on discussions during a community workshop held in December 2006. Residents were invited to view and discuss designs that include plans for a residential tower, art museum, public walkway along the Hudson River and destination restaurant. By engaging with end users and creating designs that embody their goals, Alsop believes the Glenwood Power Station project will not only make a statement about what is important to local residents but also represent the innovation and inspiration they bring to the process.
