On site work about to start on SMC Penrose’s sustainable business park in the south West.
Located in one of the principal market towns in Devon, SMC Penrose’s plans to utilise a number of sustainable design features are soon to be realised.
Features in the business park include night-time cooling through controlled ventilation, a roof platform for photovoltaic cells, a
purpose-designed clear storey at roof level to exhaust room air during
the day which capitalises on the direction of the prevailing wind, a
wind turbine, a wood waste boiler and rainwater/grey water harvesting.
The spine of buildings is designed to follow a contour line on
the site and the internal design allows for circulation and interaction
space within the communal areas and also offers flexibility of the
meeting spaces by allowing for large meeting rooms or smaller
subdivisions for one to one meetings and training. Work is set to finish March 2008
