Sustainable low-energy approach meets high expectations
151 Broadway is designed by to a low-energy strategy in which the thermal mass of the concrete slabs provides natural cooling Consequently there are no suspended ceilings to conceal the structure and there is an underlying clarity and honesty in the use of materials.
The building is the headquarters of the UK's leading body in personnel management and development, CIPD. The organisation had clear and demanding expectations of their own workplace. Their brief to GMW called for a modern, light and open building that would address environmental issues and be ‘people friendly’; a building that would convey distinction and reinforce their brand. The offices live up to these high expectations, providing a variety of spaces and a strong sense of community in a stimulating and comfortable, open-plan building.
