Make architects appointed for the redevelopment of the former Middlesex Hospital
Ken Shuttleworth’s architectural firm Make has been appointed for the redevelopment of the former Middlesex Hospital site, replacing the existing random collection of buildings with a scheme that is appropriate to this urban setting.
Project Abbey (Guernsey) Holdings Ltd, an investment consortium led by the CPC Group, has applied to the City of Westminster for planning permission for a 95,000 sq meter mixed use redevelopment of the
former Middlesex Hospital to create 273 new homes and 33,000 sq metres of office space and community facilities. The site in Fitzrovia, North of Soho in London W1, currently houses the former Middlesex Hospital and
covers a total of 1.2 hectares (3 acres). Development managers and interior designers to the scheme Candy & Candy Limited (“Candy
& Candy”) have held wide consultation with all local representative groups, as well as numerous consultations with Westminster City Council and the
Greater London Authority.
Located on the eastern edges of the London borough of Westminster, it borders Camden, and lies within the East Marylebone Conservation area.
