New IT museum for Bangkok
Designs have been revealed for the National Museum of Information Technology in Bangkok. The 7,500m² education and exhibition facility is being funded by the Thai Government.
The 380m Thai Baht building has a stretched rectilinear form, whilst internally; the floors are suspended with a limited number of vertical internal surfaces.
This layout will create considerable opportunities and challenges for the design of the exhibitions.
The museum will contain five galleries, one showing early computing and numeration technology and the other four covering every aspect of modern computation and technology.
The exhibition elements have been designed to stand free of the building structure creating positive visitor spaces and negative servicing and storage areas, whilst allowing the distinctive architecture to be read independently.
