The design competition took place in April 2003. At the end of June we received the commission to make the executive design of the temporary building for the anniversary of Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma. The concept of this building for the 30 days of celebrations is the high flexibility with a pre-casted iron structure and covering with a two layer external cladding in a wood panel cover with a mirror polish iron. A high visibility of the structure and its mirror surface magnifies the ludic space and external context.
Every part of the building may be dissembled for the next future use. The internal layout (550 m2) is designed with a patio which divides the inside private restaurant by the public wine bar and tasting area and the land/product/men exhibition about the relationship between the work of the man and landmarks. The theme of design committee was high quality of the products (prosciutto di parma and others of the food valley) and high quality of the space; a place to meet a new way of spend time tasting cookery. The architectural context is a piazza in front of the historical Palace "La Pilotta" in the centre of Parma, recently renewed by arch. Mario Botta. During the night two 4000w white lamps were on the trace a light marker visible from 4 km away, this "white candles" design with red antennas the stylized logo of CPC, the same of the city of Parma.
