Kultura, located in one of Toronto’s oldest mercantile buildings, is a new, multi-level restaurant dedicated to social dining. Blending stylish glamour with ancient mystique, the three levels of dining correspond to distinct modes of sociability. The ground level accommodates a greeting area and holding bar, the second level holds the main dining room and the third level is dedicated to private dining.
The enlightened dialogue between a historic structure and an architecture that is of our time, while common in Europe, is rare in North America. With this renovation, Core Architects has injected new elements into an existing restored building shell. The architecture combination of unadorned steel, naturally finished wood, large panes of glass and sleek furnishings establishes Kultura’s credibility as an unselfconscious and authentic phenomenon. Since its opening, Kultura has become a popular venue for Toronto’s movers and shakers in the design and business communities.
