Zaha Hadid has won the competition to design the main pavilion for the 2008 International Exposition in Zaragoza, Spain beating 14 competition finalists including Richard Rogers, Torres & Martínez Lapeña, and Rafael Moneo. Engineering will be by Ove Arup. The bridge will link the city to the expo site. The structure is comprised a series of interlocking truss elements known as pods. These optimise the structural system and allow for a natural differentiation of the pavilion interiors, where each pod corresponds to a specific exhibition space.
