The small house belongs to a townswoman but is situated in the lowland of the Austrian province “Burgenland” in the middle of an old fruit orchard. The budget available was so little that the house could not be realised in this form and dimension with usual means and methods. The planning work led finally to a free wood construction with roof and walls made of packaging plywood. The reason for the elephant skin outside is a PU insulation and coating. The simple ground plan of about 100 m² is divided on different levels. The house floats above the ground and offers a view through the branches of the fruit trees from different heights. By simple proportions of façade and windows the extraordinary appearance of the house is led back to a usual house in the province of Burgenland.
