The property is a four storey semi-detached Victorian town house, which has been completely stripped back to its load bearing walls and extended at the rear on the lower two levels. At the front of the house a triple height volume was created into which rises a cantilevered wooden and glass open-tread staircase. The reception area is a double height open-plan space with polished concrete floor, which runs the full length of the extended lower ground floor, and is accessed from a second stair at entrance level. Towards the glazed garden elevation the floor is reduced to single height by a study at ground level above. Lighting is integrated and a palette of muted neutral colours and natural materials was chosen to accentuate the flow of space. The furniture fittings, flooring and stair treads are all in the same dark oak finish and the bathrooms are made of cast stone.
