Enjoyable living in a small piece of land

The house was built in the old part of Tokyo still with an atmosphere of good and firm sociality but the size of the land was quite small. To use this small space fully and attractively, we planed to stack up one space at a floor into 6 stories of the simple solid exterior co-existing with Torii of a local shrine. The floors of top half became into the owner’s house. We focused on a fun to walk in everyday life by the key design of louvers around the staircase connecting up 3 floors to keep privacy of each room but good enough for communication. That sequel effect by those of half open and half closed might have been our original sense of living.
