New courtyard acts as light well and provides circulation between living room, kitchen and bedroom

A north facing courtyard wall reflects light into all three surrounding rooms. Shutters, double doors and sliding doors fold away to extend the interior space into the courtyard, providing extra living space in this 75 sqm cottage. When these are closed, the character of the house becomes more introverted and private. Innovative storage units in each room, from durable marine plywoord, reduce the amount of loose furniture required, saving space and adding character to the house. Low maintenance concrete epoxy floors provide coolness in summer. The bathroom and bedroom share a shed-like space, creating the feeling of an indoor landscape.
