Private house for a retired couple in North London

A new private house on a narrow site in an existing cul-de-sac of houses built in the 1980’s. Built within the confines of a narrow sub-urban site and surrounded by bungalows, the new house for a retired couple, seeks to establish a relationship with the neighbouring buildings but is modern. Traditional elements such as the bay windows and chimney stack have been re-interpreted in a contemporary manner. The centrally positioned fireplace forms a pivotal feature around which the ground floor living spaces are arranged and re-establishes this element of the English House as the central focal point.
