New independent building accommodates the computer education at the German School in Richmond
The dedicated IT Building on the grounds of the German School in Richmond features an envelope of composite glazing panels used for the first time in the UK. The innovative cladding provides a space permeated with natural daylight and challenges the perception of a traditional computer room. Two thirds of the floor to ceiling glazing is filled with translucent insulation, which dissipates light, preserves heat and offers a sense of enclosure. Clear north facing panels provide a view. Treated glass and adjustable blinds control solar gain and glare.
