A luxury mansion in the open countryside overlooking a green valley near Vienna.
A cantilevered box “floats” above the ground floor and houses some private rooms. Steel columns are reduced to a minimum and follow the structural system. The base of the building roughly follows the incline of the slope and is slightly terraced itself. The ground floor is open in all directions and creates a seamless connection between the living space indoors and the landscape outdoors. The site is situated on a slope overlooking a valley near Vienna.
While the base is clad with stone, the upper levels are especially smooth coated (lotuseffect) white box. A large glass roof, spanning almost 10 m², can be opened above the gallery and the living room thereby creating a kind of interior patio. The roof was also designed as a smooth white surface, the first of its kind.
