Yaski-Sivan architects dominate the Tel Aviv skyline
After an seven year wait the final Azrieli tower is underway. The Azrieli Towers are the largest and most expensive private project ever built in Israel. Both the circular tower (187m/49 floors) and the triangular tower (169m/49 floors) were completed in 1999. The third tower, which is a square tower, stands at 154m (42 floors) and will be finished by early 2008 - all three shapes symbolises the modern architecture in Tel Aviv. The Azrieli Center’s total plot area is 34,500 square metres and before the construction the site was used as Tel Aviv’s dumpster-trucks parking garage. Currently over 750,000 cars pass by the towers every day. One of the busiest malls in Israel, with myriads of shoppers daily, there are around 30 restaurants and other food outlets in the mall. The entire complex has approximately 150,000 sq m of office space, all of which are for rent only, 8 cinemas, a conference centre, 6 theatres, an observation floor which is home to the tallest restaurant in Israel and a bridge (110m long) connecting the shopping mall with Ha’Shalom railway station and 5 levels of parking.
