Kings Reach Tower in central London designed in the early 1970s by Richard Seifert is to be redeveloped. Make Architects new design increases office accommodation by 40% and the existing tower will be raised by four floors. New cladding will allow improved environmental control. The lower office building will be replaced by a cluster of smaller towers, of 6 to 12 storeys in height. The development will provide a vastly improved public realm. Automated opening panels will significantly reduce the energy consumption of the development. The cluster massing makes a positive contribution to the river frontage to the north and Stamford Street to the south by day and by night.
