Out of the trio cluster and standing at 1,155ft (350m), with 71 storeys, will be the Rogers building. With crisscrossing columns up and down its sides, topped by 100-foot spires at all four corners, Lord Rogers called it "a very slim tower, clearly structured, clearly legible" so that the public could see how it was built and to create an effect of reaching into the sky. In an innovative move the Rogers tower are column-free, allowing breathtaking panoramic views from the angles.
It does have an outer skeleton of steel bars and four rooftop antennae that give the design a spikiness that plays well against the smooth confidence of the Foster tower. It will also have a three-level glass lobby with a “big picture window” right on to the planned World Trade Centre Memorial.
