The 30,000m², €40 million Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum, Netherlands, designed by Neutelings Riedijk, is nearing completion. The building which consists of five underground and five above ground levels, is earmarked for opening in December this year. In a deep canyon underground, much of the Dutch national archives for radio and television are stored. Above ground, a staged volume contains the media museum. The third component of the building is a set of institutional offices, which along with the other two main volumes enclose a large open public atrium. The building is clad with coloured relief glass, depicting famous images from Dutch television.
