U.S. and Korean firms team on Haeundae hotel competition
U.S. architecture firm Durrant, in association with Haenglim Architects of Korea, submitted the winning design for this Korean Air Force owned and operated hotel. The client wanted the design to reference flight, so the overall concept is “floating volume”, like an airplane, but with the mass supported by beams. The hotel is a combination of city hotel and resort condominium which offers many resting areas and dynamic views from the roof garden and balcony. In addition, all main guest rooms have an ocean view. There are 150 units in the hotel’s 19-story tower.
