To minimise disruption and delays Martin Markcrow Architect’s design will be assembled offshore before being shipped

Martin Markcrow Architects has received planning permission for a new two-storey penthouse to be located above an existing four-storey building on Wandsworth High Street, London. Located within the Wandsworth Town Conservation Area, the scheme has been endorsed by English Heritage and incorporates refurbishment work to the façade of the existing 1920’s building and the ground floor Ferrari showroom. The 2,400 ft2 apartment for a private client will be pre-fabricated by a modular construction company in Slovenia, and transported in five modules to London where it will be craned into position over a 2-3 day period, before connection to the existing services and stairwell. Modular construction was the ideal solution for this project as it avoids noise and dust pollution to existing tenants as well as being able to conduct quality inspections in controlled conditions.
