The 66,000 square foot Center for Optics completed this month for the University of Arizona's College of Optical Sciences. The building provides expanded state of the art optical research labs, faculty offices, conference center and auditorium spaces, and a series of open interaction spaces. As an abstraction of a Camera Obscura, the copper rain screen clad concrete structure includes a number of optical features, including three vertical light shafts the height of the building, a ground level museum, and a Frensel lens as a northern facade.
