I think this is really beautiful. Unfortunately, and probably due to credit crunch, it doesn't look to be happening any time soon. Hope it soars in the future - a terrific icon for Brighton.

Wilkinson Eyre Architects win planning for city's first waterfront tower

Plans for Brighton Marina have been approved by Brighton & Hove City Council. The new scheme replaced an earlier application November 2005 and includes a slightly curved 40 storey tower with public viewing gallery and a swing bridge, 853 apartments, 28,000 square feet of commercial space, extensive leisure facilities and sustainable transport initiatives. Wilkinson Eyre Architects adopted renewable energy harnessed from solar, wind, wave and combined heat and power, and green technologies to reach a 25% reduction in domestic water use and a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions. It will be one of the most sustainable developments in the county, achieving 100% EcoHomes 'Excellent' rating, which is only achieved by two percent of residential developments.
