Helsinki based architecture firm, ALA tipped to win Swedish competition
As the international competition to design and develop a building for the Sami parliament comes to an end, ALA’s design seems to be hot favourite to win. The firm’s ideology of ‘beauty created in a practical, efficient and analytical design approach’ is clearly visible in this unique design.
The design attempts to deal with the harsh changeable weather conditions of the sloped site, in the Swedish Lapland.
The client, the national property board of Sweden, commissioned the competition which consisted of a 10,000,000 Euro budget and restrictions of 4000m2. It had to include room for parliament, as well as office and public spaces.
