Foster's Sainsbury Center for Visual Arts re-opens

Nearly 30 years after its first opening and subsequent extension of the partially-underground Crescent Wing in 1991, the Sainsbury Center at University of East Anglia re-opened to the public once again on 21 May. The Center was first designed by Foster and Partners mainly to house the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection, and is said to be one of the pioneers in sustainable architecture. This extension includes a major new gallery which links the Center to the Crescent Wing below the ground, educational facilities and shops. The main entrance and building services have been refurbished, and access for visitors with disabilities was improved by a lift inside the main gallery.
