Zaha Hadid has won a major university project in Barcelona. Spain’s second largest city, despite claiming to have 5,400 architects of its own has appointed the Iraqi born Zaha Hadid to design this significant project. Other international architects working in the city include Parisian Jean Nouvel and Swiss Herzog De Meuron. The 11-storey building, with its irregularly aligned floors, overlooks the historic waterfront and features large open roof and terrace spaces, will be completed within 18 months, according to Barcelona's mayor, Joan Clos. Hadid’s win comes shortly after her library win in Seville.
