Horden Cherry Lee's micro-compact home (m-ch) is to make its UK debut next month

The micro-compact home is a 2.65m² aluminium cubic pod, which is influenced by traditional Japanese tea-house architecture. It has been designed for short-stay smart living and is suitable for a variety of locations, providing sophisticated compact accommodation for business or leisure use. The slick aluminium cuboid pod integrates sound, flat-screen, communication and energy systems and requires no furniture. A case study ‘village’ of seven m-chs sponsored by 02, has been inhabited by six students who moved into the village in November, alongside their British professor, Richard Horden. The prototype will be showcased at this year’s Grand Designs Live exhibition, at ExCel in Docklands, 2-4 June, then in Berkley Square, W1, a stones throw from Horden Cherry Lee’s studio from 6-10 June 2006. The m-ch is available to purchase in Europe with a retail guide price of £50,000.
