A unique opportunity to design a model sustainable community in Africa

The competition calls on architects and designers to define and apply new spatial approaches in order to create a community that will serve as a model for sustainable living elsewhere on the continent and beyond. The Southbank is an open, two-stage competition that aims to produce visualisations of a new community for 2000-3000 people. Each finalist will receive two economy class airfare and three nights accommodation to visit the site. All of the finalists who submit the required work to the second stage, south/centre, will be awarded expenses of $25 000. The winning scheme from south/centre will receive $75 000, and will be appointed as architects for the project.
