Small project gets big applause
This small, 1,000 square foot weekend cabin has been
winning accolades in both the architectural and US
National press. The design by Seattle based Olson
Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects features steel cladding and technical innovations such as the hand-cranked shutters which provide a high level of security when un-occupied. Located near a river in a floodplain, the 20’ x 20’ square footprint rises three stories and is topped by the living room/kitchen. Tom Kundig was a finalist for the prestigious National Design Award from the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and the firm and its projects have been widely published and received numerous awards, including 2 National AIA Awards.
