Gehry's L.A. regeneration project unveiled

The design of two residential towers in Los Angeles were unveiled by the architect Frank O Gehry this week. The L-shaped towers with glass panels have 47 and 24 stories, housing condominiums, affordable housing units, and several commercial facilities. They are planned to be built in the block opposite his past work, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, with the Grand Avenue between them. The buildings were designed to be connected to the Disney Hall and to make a cultural center along Grand Avenue, without blocking the views. Gehry's proposal is part of the huge downtown Grand Avenue regeneration project, which will be rolled out in three phases. The first phase is expected to start late this year.
