Project demonstrates how preservation and green design can work together

Located on a preserved suburban farmstead, this 20,000SF office building is designed to achieve three principal objectives: Preserve and reuse the existing farm structures, some as old as 150 years; integrate the new building seamlessly with the old, and demonstrate sustainable building strategies by qualifying for a high LEED rating. The building, which was completed in 2006 is embedded into the landscape, giving it a low profile. Its east-west orientation gives it ample exposure to both southern and northern light, which makes the interior bright and airy. An array of 40 geothermal wells serve as a heat exchange system, providing year-round energy savings for heating and cooling the building.
