The glazed entrance doors are made of cast glass and steel. The cast glass gives a suitable heaviness and thickness to the doors but allows the light of day to spill into the back of the cathedral and provides a welcoming and transparent ceremonial entrance on the axis of the high altar. The design invokes motives present throughout the building. The quatrefoil patterned glazed panels and forged cresting makes these new doors thoroughly sympathetic to the surroundings and provides an intimation of the rich interior.
