U-shaped glass balcony to offer stunning views of the Grand Canyon
Construction for an ambitious new tourist attraction on The Grand Canyon has begun.
The skywalk will suspend pedestrians over the cliff face to the canyon. The Skywalk is expected to become a world famous tourist attraction and a must see for visitors of the canyon.
’’One challenging design aspects of the project were wind loads, pedestrian
induced vibration, and foundation system. Dampers
will be used to help reduce vibration.’’ Mark Johnson, MRJ Architects in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bridge will be assembled on top of the cliff and then moved into final
position hanging over the cliff.
Bridge use will probably be stopped during periods of high winds for
pedestrian comfort.
