Last link in London's 'Big Dig'

A new 95 million Euro Thameslink development has been given the go-ahead. It will be constructed beneath the existing St Pancras station. The stop will replace King's Cross Thameslink station on Pentonville Road This now means passengers will not have to walk the third of a mile between stations as was initially feared. The project should be completed 2007 to coincide with Eurostar services as it bids farewell to waterloo. It will provide an excellent interchange between mainline rail and international services. It will also provide better access to passengers who use the Olympic Javelin service during the 2012 Games. Construction is set to beginning early summer.
