KSR Architects design rainbow-hued pavilion for Camden Create Festival 2014

Local design studio KSR Architects has been selected as the winner of a competition to conceptualise a temporary pavilion for the London Borough of Camden as part of the first ever Camden Create Festival.

Due to be held on 13-15 May 2014, the festival will draw attention to the plethora of creative industries in the area to encourage additional media and artistic firms to set up shop within the borough.

Partner at KSR Architects Les Koski said: “KSR has been a part of this hidden creative community for over 30 years so we were determined to do something ambitious and most importantly bright and colourful to represent the festival’s core mantra for exploration, discovery, and exposure.”

Working closely with Arup and DW Plastics, KSR has designed the pavilion to be an animated and dynamic explosion of colour, composed of vibrantly-hued tubes suspended from a lightweight theatre and stage truss system to form a bright shelter outside Camden Town Underground Station.

In total, the temporary volume will be comprised of 640 multi-coloured, translucent tubes which will move in the breeze like a giant wind chime. The firm states that ‘each little collision represents the conversations, interactions, and networking being promoted between people’.
