UPA releases designs for first LEED Gold Certificate building in Iraq

Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is planning an enhancement of Higher Education in Iraq through the development of existing Universities/Colleges and the creation of new University Cities. UPA had been invited to pose ideas for the scheme alongside many other international consultants specialised in educational planning and design.

UPA had submitted a complete study for planning and cost estimate for the Al Qassim Green University. The study was selected by the client and the team appointed to develop the architecture and engineering behind the project. Al Qassim Green University will be the first campus within the wider programme to be designed as per LEED criteria. The design team asserts that the campus Presidency Building will be first LEED Gold Certificate building in Iraq.

The program of the newly established Al Qassim Green University shall be based on green technology education, comprising five colleges with the presidency building and all related supportive facilities, including Sports Compound, Main Auditorium, Central Library, Entertainment Centre and Power Building in addition to student housing and staff accommodation.
