two of the best architects in the world you know it will be good. that said

it looks interesting with some very good elements but somehow not complete. i seem to want to crumple the parts together a bit. more air rights use / more elevated networks. less aloofness. less sanitary, & more mix functionally & visually.
softer / more landscape. foster's housing has a disturbing "designed for surveillance look"
scale & texture of gehry housing more satisfying & interesting, than foster's.

First official images of Battersea Power Station: Phase 3 

Model images and renderings of Phase Three of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment project have been released, showing two markedly different proposals from Gehry Partners and Foster + Partners. Gehry Partners are responsible for devising five buildings to the east of a central high street (known as The Electric Boulevard) next to the Grade II* listed power station while Foster + Partners have released concept designs for an undulating mixed-use form to the west.

The scheme by Gehry Partners goes by the name of ‘Prospect Place’ and will comprise five buildings anchored by a ‘Flower’ building. Double-height retail units will run across the scheme at street level, spilling out onto a community park in the centre. There are also plans for a community hub and a plethora of residential units in a scheme that is quintessentially ‘Gehry’, with sculpted facades and unusual angles.

Frank Gehry, Founder of Gehry Partners, said: “Our goal from the start has been to create a neighbourhood that connects into the historic fabric of the city of London, but one that has its own identity and integrity. We have tried to create humanistic environments that feel good to live in and visit.” This is the first permanent development in London for the firm.

To the west of The Electric Boulevard is a mammoth structure by Foster + Partners, sliced through with voids which enable sunlight to filter into public spaces at ground level. 517 new homes will be split between the two developments - approximately half and half - and Foster + Partners ‘The Skyline’ will incorporate 103 affordable units, clustered toward the southern end. Gracing the top of the form will be one of London’s largest roof gardens at more than 250m in length.

Grant Brooker, Design Director and Senior Partner at Foster + Partners, said: “We moved our own office to Wandsworth almost twenty five years ago - the Borough is very important to us, so we were absolutely delighted to be chosen by the shareholders of Battersea Power Station to be part of this inspiring regeneration project. It will transform the area and create a vibrant new district for South London that we can all be proud of.”
