First major retail development in Makati in almost ten years now open for business
Broadway Malyan has celebrated the official opening of its 17,000 sq m retail centre in Makati City, The Philippines. The development forms part of the wider Century City complex which also incorporates the Broadway Malyan-designed Trump Tower Manila, set to be the tallest residential skyscraper in The Philippines at 250m in height.
The opening of the Century City Mall marks the completion of the first major retail complex in Makati in almost ten years, with international brands such as Starbucks, Hush Puppies, CaliBurger, Desigual, Victorinox and Swarovski now occupying the 1bn Philippine Peso development.
Miguel Sousa, Project Leader in Broadway Malyan’s Singapore office, said: “Our diverse, expert design team has worked in close partnership with client Century Properties Group to deliver an iconic project which is all about quality, customer experience and liveability, with the scheme sitting at the heart of the wider Century City development.”
Alongside the core retail amenities on offer are four cinemas and a rooftop garden with open-air terraces occupied by restaurants and bars. Stepped sky courts create external terraces with welcome relaxation and social spaces for shoppers to compliment a network of ‘green paths’ which meander through the project. Skylights and air wells provide a sustainable energy boost to what may otherwise be a very energy-intensive scheme.
