This recreational facility designed by UPA (lead consultant) and Tony Owen Partners (sub consultant) has been established as a bench mark for future development in the city of Abu Dhabi, particularly for female residents. Items used by local Abu Dhabi women have been used as inspiration points in the design of the main clubhouse, particularly with the treatment of the elevations and internal spaces.
The overarching concept for the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club was developed from the flowers and natural beauty of local plantlife. The project is located in one of the most attractive areas of the Abu Dhabi facing the sea in a quiet quarter adjacent to another landmark compound including the Officer’s Club and a very long beach.
Within the main clubhouse visitors will find facilities for sports, education and training, entertainment and leisure amenities, a spa, a lounge and restaurants, while the wider compound also incorporates an outdoor swimming pool. Also part of the first phase of construction are a gate house and utility building with supporting infrastructure including parking lots.
The second phase will include a sports academy, a shooting range, an arts and music academy, SPA, an administration building and a services building. Future plans also include widespread landscaping to accommodate festivals and outdoor events as well as a beach with a lagoon to maximise privacy for users of the Ladies Club.
