Phase one of masterplan complete
New York based Rafael Viñoly Architects have completed the first phase of a major revamp for New York’s court facilities. The aim is to integrate the 775,000 square-foot court complex within the existing community formed by residential buildings, school structures and surrounding retail activity. There will be an exterior glass and aluminum curtain wall; this is to express the building as open and unintimidating. For the rest of the structure there will be varying amounts of glass to respond to interior requirements of light and security. The innovative exterior wall, lighting and mechanical systems result in a high performance energy- efficient building.
