All Design Founder Will Alsop considers this week's top news stories

Each week we will invite a well-known name from architecture to join us in the WAN newsroom to help our subscribers see the week’s news through their eyes.

Michael Hammond explains: “We have been delivering News Review to a global audience since 2005 and as a small part of our ambitious plans to move the WAN brand forward we are adding a new dimension, interaction to allow you - the architect - to get more involved, engage with the news and become part of it.”

Shop Talk’s inaugural guest needs no introduction. One of the Big Guns on the international stage, WAN AWARDS judge and long term supporter Will Alsop tells us why the BRE’s new prototype flood resilient home won’t fly, why he’s surprised at Vinoly’s New York Tower and what’s impressed him about SOM’s New School.

Alsop also touches on his latest scheme for London: Heliport Heights in Battersea. The project sees 15 storeys of residential development rise above an existing 4-storey heliport on the River Thames. All 14 apartments within Heliport Heights will benefit from two balconies and views of the river. A planning application for the scheme has been submitted.
