19-storey condominium on the Hudson River to incorporate new home of 303 Gallery 

Construction is underway on a 44-residence development on the Hudson River by developer SR Capital. Designed by Foster + Partners with Beyer Blinder Belle as executive architect, the high-end condominium is a brand new scheme in West Chelsea which blends luxury residential units with a future home of contemporary multimedia art exhibitors 303 Gallery.

With Foster + Partners’ largely column-free design reaching 19 storeys into the sky, far reaching views across the Hudson River will be afforded, with panoramic viewing from the three full-floor penthouses. Each of these 6,200+ sq ft penthouse residences will incorporate double-sided wood-burning fireplaces, private terraces or loggias and access to adjacent club rooms and libraries. The top-level penthouse will also feature a 4,000+ sq ft rooftop terrace complete with swimming pool and facilities for entertaining such as kitchenette and bar area.

Southwestern light will bounce off the building’s reflective metal façade elements and penetrate generous windows to illuminate the interior volumes, many of which benefit from 11ft ceiling heights (up to 12ft in the penthouses). The residential units range from two bedrooms to five and come with private elevators and interior décor designed by Foster + Partners for Molteni.

At the western end of the first two floors will be the new home of the 303 Gallery. A separate entranceway has been incorporated to ensure residents’ privacy and security, with those residing in the building accessing their apartments through a light-drenched double-height lobby. A prismatic glass wall ensures optimum levels of sunlight within the entranceway, which SP Capital describes as ‘cathedral like’.
