What has been the highlight of the year for your office?
Highlight of the year for us was winning the 2013 Lighting Design Award for Large Retail with the Superdry flagship store on Regent Street. We've also grown to 14 designers, so watching the team develop has been a real personal highlight.
What shifts/trends have you witnessed in the global market in 2013?
The largest shift / trend that we have seen isn't necessarily a good one. There seems to have been a huge shift towards reduction of time allowed for design. I think that clients place great value on good design, but seem to undervalue the development time good design takes. I think this is possibly simply caused by the fact everyone wants more for less…
What are your predictions for the AEC industry in 2014?
2014 seems to be looking like a good year for the construction industry. There seems to be a lot of projects on the horizon, and every architecture and interior design practice we see seems very busy!
Where would your ultimate festive getaway be?
If I could be anywhere at Christmas it would have to be the Alps… I love snow sports. Combining great views, with exercise and great friends and of course lots of apres ski – that is the ultimate festive getaway!
What design present would you most like to receive this year?
If I could have any design present this year it would have to be a Mondain Swiss Watch. I'm a believer that watches say a lot about a person and have always admired the classic station master's watch. I'll get round to buying one eventually!
